My all time favourite spice is (drum roll)
- Nutmeg.

Nutmeg /with shell Al Teeb (arabic for nutmeg). The nuts last a long time in your pantry.
In old French, “mug” meant Musk (مسك). Known as the king of scents, musk is one of the most precious aromatics in the world to this day.
Nutmeg, which I feel can sneak it's way into just about any cuisine (Middle Eastern, every European cuisine, Caribbean, South American, South & North African, South Asian) savory or sweet.
Nutmeg is the secret for so many dishes - bread, soups, stews, pasta, rice, meat, sauces (especially béchamel!) and spice mixes! It's rare that I can't find a place for nutmeg.

While many spices are one-note flavors that need to be harmonized, nutmeg can sing several tunes at once, doing the job of several other ingredients and uniting disparate elements of a dish. Nutmeg is a versatile spice that can elevate any dish – don't be afraid to try it!
